Author Mary Mueller

Mary grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She is a mother and a grandmother. Mary is an avid volunteer with Brethren Disaster Ministries and served with them in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina. The organization spent four years helping the people of St. Bernard's Parish rebuild their homes.


Mary's writing has appeared in the following publications: Disaster News Network, July, 2007; Bridges, Vol.12, Summer 2011; Brethren Press, Mar. 3, 2013; Brethren Press, Church of the Brethren 2014 Cookbook "Wit and Wisdom" sidebar.


Mary has written three children's books: How Much Gold Can an Octopus Hold?, What Do You Call an Ant?, and What Did You Bring Me? which showcases Mary's humor and sensitivity to the world of children. She is a member of the Atlanta Writers Club.

Artist Sandra Reed

How Much Gold Can an Octopus Hold? and What Do You Call an Ant? illustrator Sandra Reed is Mary Mueller's sister and a published artist, whose work has appeared in the Voices from the Ledges (Grand Ledge, Michigan, 2013). Her work includes watercolor paintings, unique hand-painted furniture, and delightful murals sprinkled in Florida, Wisconsin, and Michigan.


Her work has been commissioned by the following businesses: Church of the Brethren, Cape Coral, Florida; Sew Creative & Pins and Needles, Grand Ledge, Michigan; About the Home, Grand Ledge, Michigan; and the Small Talk Children's Assessment Center, Lansing, Michigan. Sandra's work has also been commissioned by private residences in Florida, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Artist Leesa Hausmann

What Did You Bring Me? illustrator Leesa Hausmann was born and raised in northern Mississippi. Leesa earned her graphic design degree from Mississippi State University. She currently practices as a registered nurse in the Nashville, TN area; however, she enjoys drawing, painting, and making things with her hands whenever she gets the opportunity.


Working on a children's book has been a dream come true. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children, attending concerts, traveling, being outdoors, and laughing lots.
